The History of the Mountanos Family
and the Mountanos Vineyards
Since 1898 five generations of the Mountanos family have been involved in the coffee industry. At the turn of the century, two brothers, Richard and Stratis Mountanos emigrated from Greece to California and began roasting and selling coffee in Oakland and San Francisco. The Mountanos name became synonymous with service and fancy, high quality arabica coffees and has remained on the forefront of the specialty coffee phenomenon for the last 25 years. Success was built on the simplicity of honesty, purity of product, and the respect of our customers.
Our goal at Mountanos Vineyards is to apply the exact standards at our vineyards. We are two generations strong and have planned for many more generations to follow. High quality grapes are what we strive for and our Certified Organic Grape production will be our main focus. We feel very strongly that anyone can grow grapes. Although, caring and nurturing them to perfection and doing it organically puts a different twist into the equation. We have a unique quality when it comes to our customers. We listen and respect them. Our philosophy is without them, there is no us! It is a concept and a belief from a different generation yet we will continue to practice through to the next millennium.
