OUR VINEYARD LOCATIONS
GIELOW:
Our home ranch was planted in 1983. After farming our home ranch conventionally for fourteen years it became certified organic in 1998. This ranch is located at the bottom of the foothills on Gielow Lane. The ranch has top quality sandy clay soils. Two agricultural wells run all overhead sprinkler irrigation. Either well can be used for drip irrigation. This ranch used to be a pear orchard.
GOBBI:
This is our most visible ranch. It was planted in 1998 and was certified organic in 2001. The ranch is located on the southeast corner of Highway 101 and Gobbi Street in the flatland of Ukiah. The south side of the field has very wet clay soils. There are many French drains which drain this field. The north field has a little bit more of a sandy soil which allows for better drainage. Three agricultural wells run the drip system for the whole ranch. A ten acre foot pond is filled by the three wells. The pond also supplies the water for the overhead sprinkler irrigation. This ranch had been fallow for over 30 years.
SANFORD RANCH:
Our newest ranch is located in the foothills off of Sanford Ranch Road. The ranch has good clay-gravely soils which drain well. Twenty acres were planted in 1999. Ten acres were planted in 2000. Seven were planted in 2001, and the remainder of the ranch will be planted in 2002. One 49 acre foot pond supplies water for overhead and drip irrigation. One well on the ranch is used for recharging the pond.
